Oh damn i’ve been doing this wrong all along, that made it so much easier thanks I don’t get when you said-” reviews ‘Recommended or ‘Not Recommended’ I don’t get when you said-” reviews ‘Recommended or ‘Not Recommended’ When you see the reviews page, they’ll be thumbs up and thumbs down icons depending how you’ve voted for your latest reviews. You’ll also see them for the top reviews you done too. If you click on those you will go straight to a page where you’ll be able to edit your review or delete it. TL;DR: Profile -> Reviews -> click the blue thumbs up icon or red thumbs down icons on each review. Instead of your profile page you can also go through the store page of the game and see a link to your review there as well. Also a tip for next time, it may have been better if you’d created a new discussion since this one is pretty old and more people will notice your question with a new post. Can you disable Steam reviews?
Ever since Steam started allowing users to leave game reviews, they also allowed other users to comment on those reviews, whether to agree with it, correct it, insult it, or just leave a random string of nonsense words. Today that may be coming to an end as a recent update disables the ability to receive comments on Steam reviews by default.
- Check out all the upcoming PC Games we know about in our handy list ! This change was first spotted by Reddit user Kiu16,
- When a review for a game is left on Steam there is always an option box below it, where users can change language, review visibility and so forth.
- Now there is a new option: a small checkbox labeled ‘Allow Comments’.
This is unchecked by default, which means that unless reviewers opt-in, all comments will be disabled. This seems to be related to the recent privacy policy changes implemented on Steam, which also had the unfortunate side effect of killing Steam Spy,
- In that instance, Steam profile data is now shared to friends only by default, so users have to choose to share their profile with the world – similar to this change in review commenting.
- User reactions to these changes have been divisive, and with this latest change they’ve ranged from confused to highly negative.
On the Reddit page, the highest-rated comment by MrUrgod is simply “What the f*** is happening to Steam This is so f***ed.” Most of the other comments are just as, er, passionate. Mysuperis adds “its like they are making everything private, whats next? Only friends can see your name?”, whereas megapowa asks the important question, “so how are we supposed to combat bulls**t reviews?”

How do Steam reviews work?
Overview – Users who have recorded playtime on your product on Steam can write reviews to indicate whether they recommend your product to others. These reviews may appear on your product’s store page and in the Steam Community, depending on how many other users find them helpful.
The aggregate of positive and negative reviews is used to calculate a review score which is also displayed on your store page, giving an overview of how customers have reviewed your product in the last 30 days and over its lifetime. Reviews are an easy way for customers to share their experience with your product, and to describe how your game or software has matched their expectations.
Customer expectations can be set any number of ways—through the marketing on the product page itself, through gameplay videos or stills, and through pre-release copies sent to press, etc. It can be helpful to use reviews as a feedback channel to understand if expectations are being set and met correctly.

How long can a Steam review be?
Why do Steam Reviews have a max character limitation? : Why do Steam Reviews have a max character limitation? The limitation is incredibly low at a maximum of 8000 characters. Which is about 1400 words, there is (at least for me), going to be hard to actually openly and honestly explain about a game and give a detailed review of it, you need to talk about multiple parts in detail, but this (horrible) max character limitation prevents this.Shouldn’t there be a min character limitation rather than a maximum character limitation? Wouldn’t that prevent cheeky/cheesy one liners that practically isn’t a review? I made my L4D2 review back in March, but have just updated it so I could give some extra detail, but I HAD to do this in the comments, which isn’t professional.
What percentage of Steam users leave reviews?
I know I do. But I think I’m not representative. If alone by trying to provide reasoning for me (not) liking the game while most reviews I see don’t even pretend to provide any information. Last edited by ReBoot ; 14 Jul, 2019 @ 3:51am i pretty much never review or rate games >.< Except when some sort of sale tasks me to review a game. but! then i delete the review after accomplishing the task. i don't write reviews normally because i don't really feel i express myself well when rating games and stuff, so i don't feel like people would be interested in reading my thoughts. DC-GS 14 Jul, 2019 @ 11:43am Checked my profile, I've reviewed 5% of my games. Some of this games were bundled with others, never played. Or for other reasons never played. There is also a fair amount of games, which I would rate "neutral" - neither positiv nor negative. I review/rate games after I (1) decide on an opinion I want to say and (2) get around to writing it up. A little while ago I made a personal curation list so I can put up an opinion without having to write a whole review. Also, the curation list allows for an "informational" review status, which makes it better than the review system's dichotomous choice.

So I skip the review for these. Yep, it would be nice for Steam to have a “neutral” choice for reviews. FYI, if you make a suggestion for it, you should be prepared for a handful of regulars to crap on the idea, insisting that the present system works best. Hehe, I don’t deal well with ‘regulars’, they tend to get you banned sooner or later by provoking you and then calling their buddies for help getting rid of you. The first five and last pages of the topic you linked show too many ‘blocked user – show post’ for wanting to post in that topic at all, still gonna give it a read without unblocking posts. 😉 Originally posted by DC-GS : There is also a fair amount of games, which I would rate “neutral” – neither positiv nor negative. Drox 10 Jan, 2021 @ 5:20am I rarely review, usually 3 cases for when I do.1. The game is really bad and I need to let people know, 2. I really love it, and 3. Steam forces me to for badges/rewards during events. Very few gamers actually review the game. Though the percentage is higher the fewer players there are. Generally speaking.10% would be a high estimate. I usually leave an overly written synopsis no one probably ever reads whenever im in the mood. I only ever reviewed one game. I hope to do more in the future, but my laziness leaves me doubtful that’ll actually happen, People who write reviews for games are probably a tiny minority. The way the task is designed I end up editing an existing review instead making new one. Most games I nominate I dont own. The only one I own I already reviewed.
