Why can’t i see photos on Amazon reviews?
So one of the topics we have seen pop up recently a lot within some of our platforms both here on the site as well as other platforms like social media, is that some Amazon shoppers are noticing that they can no longer upload images when leaving a product review.
- Ind of a random topic for us, but it was worth pointing out that if you are running into this, you aren’t alone.
- We too are experiencing the same thing and we are an Influencer on Amazon.
- It appears that Amazon might have simply turned this feature off.
- Most likely, this is a temporary move on their part in order to conserve resources as they deal with the increased amount of orders that have been pouring in due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) quarantines.
A lot of online retailers have been noticing huge spikes in traffic and this causes a lot of strain on their resources. Given, Amazon is one of the largest in the world when it comes to said resources. They are backed by their very own cloud services after all.
Nonetheless, they seem to be affected, or at least concerned about something. Maybe their confidence in their own cloud isn’t as high as some would assume. We have reached out to Amazon for comment, however, their replies have not provided us with any answers. In fact, their replies have not had anything to do with the questions we sent their way (the answers, so far, have been quite abstract and unrelated), so they are likely having trouble in many areas right now.
All we can say is sit back and wait it out. Likely, when all of this commotion comes to an end, there is a good chance that you will see this option pop back up. Update 05/07/2020: Amazon has returned the feature to their review platform. Why did Amazon remove reviews?
What to Do If My Amazon Account Gets Removed? – Believe it or not, Amazon reads all the reviews and feedback left by a shopper. It doesn’t matter if your account is verified or unverified; Amazon got the authority to track your review history. If their team suspects or finds out, you are leaving deceitful feedback or reviews in exchange for complimentary products, and your account will get removed on an immediate response.
- After your account is removed from Amazon, you can neither purchase a product nor leave a review.
- The Amazon team does this to maintain a clean feedback environment with genuine and legitimate reviews.
- Sometimes their scanning system deletes thousands of fraudulent reviews in one go.
- In that process, someone’s honest review gets wiped out for no reason.
In that case, you can follow the quick steps to get back to your account.

Can I use other sellers pictures on Amazon?
Can another seller use my pictures on a similar listing? 2020-02-10 09:00:27 UTC #1 Hello I have a listing which we created back in 2016. We have been lucky enough to not have much competition considering the item can be purchased from a number of suppliers.
- However recently a seller has piggy backed on the listing and is selling it far cheaper than we are prepared to sell it for.
- I know this is allow, so I have no problem with the other seller using our listing).
- This is my question: We take photos of most of the product that we list.
- So if we create a new listing for this item and remove our images from the original and use on the new listing.
Is the other seller, allowed to take my images from the new listing and use on the listing that I have removed the images from? Hope this makes sense. Not the best at explaining. Thank you.2020-02-10 09:14:36 UTC #2 Stop_n_Shop_Gifts1: Hope this makes sense. It is still your details, your photos in the database but my listing now uses these because Amazon require me to do so. When I add my listing, I can add additional photos of my product and a description of condition, but a buyer only sees these when they click on my listing from the available offers. 2020-02-10 11:02:09 UTC #3 Hello Retro_Emporium Thank you so much for the quick response. I appreciate the time you have taken to answer my question. Your explanation makes much more sense than my question probably did. Thanks so much 2020-02-10 11:18:07 UTC #4 Stop_n_Shop_Gifts1: Thank you so much for the quick response. 2020-02-10 11:39:19 UTC #5
- Your first mistake/problem is that it would be an Amazon Policy Violation (a crime, breaking the rules) to create a new listing (a New ASIN) when one already exists for that exact same item.
- Rule 1 listing items, if that exact same item already exists, a seller MUST used that ASIN.
- Hence, to answer your question, NO, your images should never appear on a different ASIN to the one you originally created, or addred yours to.
2020-02-10 12:05:34 UTC #6 Hello Thylvethter Thank you for your reply. What I should have said is that I was thinking of creating another listing, but adding something to it, to make it unique and different to the original listing. But I obviously still want to use my original photos of the product.
- A ‘packaged’ item with the main item and say a special box or bag that is unique and FORMS PART OF THE ITEM
- A unique GS1 barcode that you own for that particular packaged item / bag / box combo.
I would also print out a GS1 barcode lable with your stock code and details and stick that to the box / bag. As is also stated elsewhere, this kind of think contributed to messing up the catalogue – but so many people do this, its beyond a joke now. We sell some generic dice, that anyone can source – lots of sellers list these dice under different names and trademarks, but they are the exact same item, so customers get really confused – why is one set £5 and another identical set (listed with a different name) £10? must be better quality, right? Nope.
exactly the same item. Amazon catalogue is very broken.2020-02-10 12:27:29 UTC #9 Hello Conny_Online Thank you for your input. Not sure what you mean by no white backgrounds as all our images are in fact white background. Generic term and Gifts – could you be more specific. Also please can you let me know how making a listing which includes something different from competitors is messing with the Amazon catalogue.
Thank you 2020-02-10 12:34:11 UTC #10 Hello Legendgames Thank you for explaining. I think this is what the last comment by Conny_Online was aiming at, but the comment did not really explain it’s self so I was not sure what they meant. But I can understand how this must complicate the amazon catalogue if so many sellers are going this. £3.69 Stop_n_Shop_Gifts1: Generic term and Gifts Amazon forbid the use of the word “gift”. The above items has the bullet points including:
- Would Make a Beautiful Gift
- Presented in a designed gift box.
Stop_n_Shop_Gifts1: Also please can you let me know how making a listing which includes something different from competitors is messing with the Amazon catalogue. By adding an item to another items to make a new ASIN. Amazon do not like this as you should be selling a single item.
It requires you to purchase GS1 codes for the new item 2020-02-10 12:58:25 UTC #12 HI Conny_Online Thanks for getting back to me. We do sell under this listing, but so do many seller. We have tried updating photos and details many times, nothing seems to happen and the response from seller support is that they select the most relevent.
However i did not know that amazon does not allow the use of “gift” so thank you.2020-02-10 13:52:29 UTC #13 Amazon does not like sellers offering a free gift with a product, but a Bot could see the word gift and block it, so it is better not to use that word, although some get round this by spelling gift as g ift,2020-02-10 14:29:58 UTC #14 Conny_Online:
- Would Make a Beautiful Gift
- Presented in a designed gift box.
For reference, the second bullet point is perfectly fine as it is a factual statement, but the first of those two bullet points would be against Amazon policy as it is subjective. Use of the word “gift” isn’t actually against policy directly, but rather the policy prevents use of subjective terms (and uses gift as an example of such a term).
This would also include words such as “cheap”, “bargain”, etc. Stop_n_Shop_Gifts1: We have tried updating photos and details many times, nothing seems to happen and the response from seller support is that they select the most relevent. You need to go through the contact menu for seller support and select the “fix a product page” option, enter the ASIN and choose to update the images, then add/remove the ones you want, from there you should upload an image of the product with the EAN visible as “proof” that you have the correct product details.
Depending on the age of the listing, who created it and its sales activity/etc. the images will usually be changed within a few minutes. If the background is not pure white then there’s a fair chance of the product being suppressed at any time, suppressed listings rarely (if ever) show up in search results.
To answer the original question: theoretically another seller can use any image from Amazon within any other Amazon listing, however images should only ever show the correct product and creating a duplicate product page is not allowed, as such there should never be a situation where this would happen.
(also removing your images from the original listings would be against Amazon policy, as you are intentionally removing details which are correct). When you upload an image to Amazon you give Amazon the authority to do anything they want to with it just short of selling it to a 3rd party.2020-02-10 14:47:16 UTC #15 Hello Clearanceshed Thank you very much for this explanation. 2020-02-10 14:51:18 UTC #17 Retro_Emporium: The only time this process changes is when the product you have is your own brand, in which case you register that brand to protect against unscrupulous sellers trying to sell a similar product. Hi, not sure this is appropriate so please do tell me how else to ask this question if this is not a good place! We have our own brand and have been the sole seller of our product for years.
Somehow somebody started to sell our own product under our own listing massively underprice. I am trying to understand if this is allowed, and if – as a manufacturer and brand owner- I can put a stop to it. Where would you suggest I looked to find some answers? You seem to know something about this. best, Giorgia 2020-02-10 15:18:11 UTC #19 Thank you very much for this! So far my understanding is that once I upload the listing for the first time (as brand owner) it becomes Amazon’s and from there anybody can use the images as long as they match both product description and the item being sold.
What I am trying to find out is if I have a say in unauthorised sellers selling my product. For other people’s reference, there seems to be a way: which is to ask where the goods have been imported from (if selling in EEA and goods are imported from outside the EEA without the owner consent then, as a Owner, I can ask them to stop selling).
- Thanks again and will continue to investigate from here.
- Giorgia 2020-02-10 15:23:03 UTC #20 Primo_Toys: So far my understanding is that once I upload the listing for the first time (as brand owner) it becomes Amazon’s and from there anybody can use the images as long as they match both product description and the item being sold.
This is correct, in general. For example, let us say both you and I have permission from Sony to sell a Playstation. Five other people also have permission from Sony to sell the same Playstation. We all list on the ONE listing only. However, your product is your own and nobody else has permission to sell it.
- Therefore your own brand needs to be registered in the Brand Registry to protect it.
- Each seller, selling on the same listing, has to have the SAME product; not a similiar product, the SAME product.
- If somebody else is selling your item, ie exactly the same, without your permission, this is not permitted.
